The World's Fastest Elevator

Back in May of 2017, a tech company based in Japan had successfully developed the world’s fastest elevator. The company, Hitachi, created a high-speed elevator that reached a speed of 4,133 feet per minute! This elevator goes a whopping 47 miles per hour. During a test run of the elevator at the CTF Finance Center, a 1739 feet tall skyscraper, the elevator was going at a record-breaking speed. You can witness it yourself in the city of Guangzhou, China.

In the first trial of the elevator, it travelled at a speed of 44.7 miles per hour. In order for this lift to work safe and correctly, there were many test runs. During this time, Hitachi also adjusted the elevator multiple times for safety and quality. After thinking the speed over, it was set to run at a speed of 44.7 mph when in use.  Hitachi is working on getting higher speeds in the future, but they need to consider the precautions and hazards that may come along with that. The next fastest elevator on the list is the Shanghai Tower in China.

There are many advances that come this type of technology including the obvious faster travel times. Who knows if a new design will completely take down the Hitachi design? All we get to do is wait and see.
